I’m a creative professional with twenty+ year’s experience. Predominantly a print designer, I rely on my versatility and ability to adapt to an ever-changing media landscape.. EDUCATION 1987 - 1990 University of Technology, Sydney, Australia Bachelor of Design (Visual Communications) 2012 City Desktop training Creating ebooks with Indesign CAREER HISTORY Freelance Sydney, December 2007 - present Clients include: Playbill, Precinct, New South Publishing, Pan MacMillan, Pearson, Currency Press, Taurus Marketing, CMC Markets, Pacific Magazines, Fairfax, The Orangutan Project, Lexis Nexis. Below you will find a collection of major projects that I have been involved in during this period. Playbill Designer h Working in-house on merchandising for Swans, Sydney FC and New Zealand Warriors, taking photos, retouching and producing catalogues and eDMs. h Designed merchandise ads, theatre programmes, signage, books. Weldon Owen Senior - Designer h I worked in-house to design and produce 2 books Australia and Great Britain for Lonely Planet Not for Parents series. The role involved design and laying out the pages, sourcing images, commissioning illustrators and preparing the files for prepress. I worked closely with the editors and publisher. Murdoch books - Senior Designer h I worked in-house on a variety of projects. The role involved designing and layout of their catalogue and bookfair presentations. h I designed book covers, concepted and produced book internals and helped design and produce marketing collateral, such as web banners and posters. CMC Markets - Artworker h The responsibilities of this role were to produce forms and legal documents in Word and Indesign with a high level of attention to detail. Bella Media - Art Director h This role involved magazine layout, sourcing images, designing brochures and advertorial. The Orangutan Project - Designer h I was involved in visualising 3 different t-shirt designs and producing the artwork. They will be sold online to raise money. Freelance London, April 2007 - November 2007 Below you will find a collection of major projects that I have been involved in during this period. John Brown Junior - Designer h As designer I was responsible for translating the pen ideas into layouts on Dora the Explorer magic pen books. DeAgostini - Designer h In preparation for testing products, I concepted and produced visuals and marketing collateral for a young girls Horse Tales story. Harper Collins - Designer h This in-house role involved concepting ideas and producing book covers, working closely with the art director and book teams. Hinkler Books Melbourne, February 2006 - March 2007 Cover designer (3 days a week) h This role involved design of adult and children’s book jackets and producing internal layouts. h I designed kits, including components such as DVDs, and taking all designs to final artwork, worked closely with editors, typesetters and prepress. h When needed, I commissioning illustrators and project managed several illustrated titles. Freelance London, June 2005 - September 2005 EMAP Magazines - Designer h Designed pages for Pregnancy and Birth magazine, sourced and retouched images, prepared pages for prepress and checked proofs. Dorling Kindersley London, October 1996 - May 2005 Jacket team manager 
November 2004 – May 2005 h Managing a team of designers, DTP and editorial. h Allocating work and managing schedules and freelance designers. h Involved in piloting InDesign to ensure successful change over from QuarkXpress. Senior Art Editor November 2001 – November 2004 h This position in the jacket department involved designing covers for adult and children’s book, liaising with internal departments for material and art directing photoshoots. h I was also a workstation assessor, First Aider and Health and Safety representative. Design Manager April 1997 – November 2001 h This role in the Creative Services department involved design of national and international catalogues and book jackets. I managed the day to day running of team of 5 designers. h I liaising with internal departments for material and organised photography and ensured the image database was up-to-date. h I was responsible for implementing design systems to improve efficiency and work flow. Designer November 1995 – April 1997 h This design role in the cartography department involved layout of internal pages and cover design for a variety of atlases. I worked closely with cartographers to ensure accuracy. SOFTWARE SKILLS Mac and PC skills acquired over a period of 18 years in the following software packages.
